Taste Profile

Our 2019 vintage shows candied watermelon and cherry aromas with notes of citrusy grapefruit, lemongrass and light peach flavors with a fresh, balanced finish. Pair this Rose with creamy goat cheese, grilled fish or fresh oysters on the half shell.

Vineyard

Jane's Vineyard, located in the Santa Rosa Plains neighborhood of the Russian River Valley is made up of the adjacent Lindley's, Crinella and Garfield blocks - 132 acres of Pinot Noir with nine different clones. This small area tends to enjoy the very best of the iconic local climate; never too hot during the day, and consistently chilly at night. Jane's Vineyard shows superior vine balance thanks to its well-drained, shallow and low vigor soils. For these reasons, it was an easy decision to create our inaugural vintage of Davis Bynum Rose of Pinot Noir - a beautiful expression of the vineyard, region and varietal upon which our heritage was built.

The Harvest
The 2019 vintage started off with a large amount rain saturating the soil in late winter, with event more rain lasting through spring. A hot June facilitated cine growth followed by a considerable heat spike in August, pushing the sugars up and allowing deep berry flavors to develop. With everything in balance for a beautiful harvest, we hand picked the clone 115 block on August 22 and the clone 113 block on August 26.
